Ricardo Herrera-Castillo was born in Mexico City, Mexico, but has lived almost all his life in Mayfield, KY. At 17, his clinical internship with the local veterinary established his love for, not just animals, but the medical field as a whole. Originally, the caretaker for the Animal Tales wildlife collection, he took a break to focus on his University Studies. Currently finishing his Bachelor’s Degree at Murray State University majoring in Biomedical Sciences, Ricardo plans to attend Medical School and become a surgeon specializing in facial deformities such as cleft palate for children. In recent years Ricardo has traveled all over the United States helping communities and areas in need. Outside of the books, Ricardo enjoys traveling, running, sports, and camping. He is excited to return to the Animal Tales team as a Naturalist and inspire others to help and give back to not only wildlife, but the community whenever possible. Fluent in Spanish, Ricardo ads depth to Animal Tales team with the ability to provide programs throughout the MidSouth to organizations requiring a bilingual speaker.
