Victorina Arvelo

Naturalist

From a very young age Victorina had an extreme passion for any and all things involving nature. As with many kids, she grew up watching documentaries on Animal Planet and the Discovery Channel, and spent countless afternoons chasing creatures of every sort in her backyard. However, she had no ordinary backyard. Victorina’s backyard was a mountainside in a rural, forested area of South America in Venezuela. Upon high school graduation, Victorina enrolled in the Marine Biology program at the University of West Florida in Pensacola.

Currently enrolled at the University of West Florida, Victorina spends an ample amount of time on research and data collecting projects. During the summer of 2014, she volunteered collecting data as part of a dolphin survey team in order to determine why the population of bottle nose dolphins around Pensacola were suffering from skin lesions. Victorina is SCUBA certified which will eventually help her with her emerging marine biology and environmental science career.

Fluent in English, Spanish and Italian, Victorina’s skills, knowledge and passion are a great asset to the Animal Tales team.
